found on a back road in Brandon Mississippi, it appears, from the USDA site, that this is not clitoria mariana, and it appears that Dukes has succumb to the what he warned others of. the original post is below:
from what i've read this is often confused for centrosema virginianum (spurred butterfly pea), however, they are distinguishable from the relative lengths of their calyx (petal) tube and lobe. the spurred butterfly has a longer calyx tube than lobe. clearly the tube here is shorter making this the butterfly.
